Padding out of the leaders den, the onyx Bombay leader jumped up on the dead oak tree that sat in the middle of the clans camp. Taking a few steps, she came to a ledge on a large branch and then blinked taking a deep breathe to calm herself. This was the day she would name a new deputy, to take her spot as deputy while she took Cloudstars as leader. This was the day she would move up to leader, and a warrior would become deputy, this is the day she took charge of the clan. Today was the day.
"Will all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather here for a clan meeting!" she called out and then waited for her three queens and two warriors to gather. Her eyes looked and she saw Rustfern and smiled a gentle, sweet smile. The leader nodded and then closed her eyes taking a minute to think of the words she was going to say.
"Cats of Oakclan, it has been a moon now sense the attack of Cloudstar and his rogues, it has been a moon sense Cloudstar left us on our own and made a clan with the rogues, a moon sense Wolfclan was born, it has been a moon sense I have stepped up and now on this day I will name a new deputy for the clan. This took much thinking, but I feel this is the right choice." she began
"Rustfern, please step forward." she said and then looked down at the orange warrior. "You have helped the clan greatly in its time of need and you never stopped even when injured or tired, and for this I feel it is time you be moved up to the rank of deputy. If you chose to accept this offer you will sleep in the leaders den with me and take charge over the clan when I am gone. Do you wish to accept?" she asked.
After waiting for I do she smiled and nodded "Then Rustfern, I name you deputy of Oakclan!" she cheered and then looked around.
"Cats of Oakclan, I expect you to treat your deputy well as if he was leader, for someday he will take my spot. Now for other matters, has anyone noticed anything that they would like to bring to my attention?" she asked.

 'cause tonight's the night
the world begins again Rustfern opened his eyes, yawned, stretched then sat up, ![]() a good nap always helped boost his energy. Then he stopped, mouth mid yawn, and wrinkled up his forehead, he had gotten up for a reason...Was it the kits again? No, Over the many moons since Rustfern had had been promoted to warrior his unconscious self had learned to tune out the kits and their consistent ramblings, no this was something important...Oh well, might as well go check to make sure. Sighing he lifted himself to his paws, and slowly made his way out of the warrior's den, carefully avoiding tripping on the troublesome tree roots that were OakClan's trademark. Emerging from the recesses of his den he found, to his surprise that there appeared to be a clan meeting taking place. Slowly making his way to the forefront of the crowd, he looked up at the onyx leader whilst attentively listening to every word. First she spoke of the recent events that had taken place, the birth of WolfClan and the betrayal of Cloudstar, then, after a moment of remembrance, she continued. Ah. apparently she was finally going to name her new deputy, he sat back on his haunches and waited for the name to be spoken. Rustfern. No, it couldn't be, was he day dreaming? He sometimes did that. No, she was looking at him, actually at him, dazed, he somehow forced his paws to move, step by step, bow his head to Fadingstar, bow his head, and mew "I do." To him, those two words seemed to last all of eternity.

The leader smiled and jumped down touching noses with the orange warrior as she smiled "I know you will do great my young deputy. Please make a nest in my den, you will rest there. If you have any questions feel free to ask me. Your duties will be making border patrols and hunting patrols, as well as some ceremonies when I am to busy, you will carry on your duties as a warrior, and you will be part-time leader when I am gone" she mewled.

I ALWAYS LOOK UP TO THE SKY PRAY BEFORE THE DAWN 'CAUSE THEY FLY ALWAYS SOMETIMES THEY ARRIVE SOMETIMES THEY ARE GONE THEY FLY ON FLOCK OF BIRDS HOVERING ABOVE INTO SMOKE I'M TURNED AND RISE FOLLOWING THEM UP STILL I ALWAYS LOOK UP TO THE SKY PRAY BEFORE THE DAWN 'CAUSE THEY FLY AWAY ONE MINUTE THEY ARRIVE, NEXT YOU KNOW THEY'RE GONE THEY FLY ON FLY ON FLY ON RIDE THROUGH MAYBE ONE DAY I'LL FLY NEXT TO YOU FLY ON, RIDE THROUGH MAYBE ONE DAY I CAN FLY WITH YOU Jayflower heard a call for a gathering. Wondering why... she joined the group of cats gathered below and waiting.
Jayflower nodded, as Fadingstar revived they're memories of the attack, and the ex-leader Cloudstar, she flicked her tail. Duh. This gathering was for a new deputy!
In a good mood, she excitedly waited for the leader to call up a warrior, and when she did, she had called Rustfern, a loyal warrior and a good choice, to become deputy. Approving her choice, she gave Rustfern a polite nod. Smiling.
